A monthly meeting for cracked media & unstable systems in which two sound artists are invited to play solo sets with a final match (1+1) as speculative (z) process.

Jens Brand, born 1968 in Dortmund, studied visual arts in Münster, Germany and lives and works as a composer, musician, visual & audiovisual artist and organizer in Cologne. He has presented, performed and exhibited throughout Europe, Cuba, Botswana, Japan and the U.S.A. He worked as a residency artist in various places Germany, Japan, China and the USA. Commissions allowed him to produce pieces by several German Radio Stations and European Festivals for New Music as well as Media Art (i.e. Ars Electronica, Edith Russ Site for Media Art, Media Studios Munich, Tesla Berlin). Although educated in visual arts he soon started to confuse and cross the borders between being a composer and a visual artist. Most of his Installations contain sound and most of his sound-works and compositions consider the image to be as important as the audio-information. Many of the works are developed for the location in which they are presented. A tendency in his work is for any given piece to be either very simple and meaningless or else a very complicated mess that involves everything and everyone. His pieces can appear as concerts, performances or installations. Recent works have resulted in being mixtures of these genres, developed as logical and absurd games between the audience and the artist. His experiments with everything that can be considered to be art are not supposed to establish a belief or truth, but try to offer a fruitful soil for research, communication and progressive failure.
Paul DeMarinis has been working as an electronic composer since 1971 and has created numerous performance works, sound and computer installations and interactive electronic inventions. He has taught computer, video and audio art at Mills College, Wesleyan University, San Francisco State University and the New York State College of Ceramics, and has been a video game designer for Atari Inc. and Scholastic Software. He has performed internationally at The Kitchen, the Festival d'Automne á Paris, NHK Television in Tokyo, Het Apollohuis in Holland and at New Music America.
