James Edmonds

Edmonds uses a blend of old and new recording technologies to extract
tiny pieces of abstract sounds that seem to subtly interact, gradually
piecing together the impression of a lost, fragmented musical archive,
an unstable monument to an unspecific time.

APO33 ist ein
interdisziplinäres Labor, das sich von künstlerischen und
technologischen Bereichen inspirieren läßt. Die Gruppe APO33 fördert
die verschiedensten Kollektiv- projekte, sie verbindet die Forschung,
das Experimentieren und die soziale Intervention miteinander. In der
Kontinuität der Dynamik, die durch die freie Software-Bewegung geöffnet
worden ist, wird APO33 als modularer Raum strukturiert. APO33 leitet
gemeinschaftliche Projekte und kreative Prozesse sowie das Erforschen
der neuen künstlerischen und kreativen Betriebs- und Diffusionsarten.
Durch Workshops, Seminare, künstlerische Produktionen, internationale
Treffen, on-line-Beiträge, Publikationen und Interventionen in
öffentlichen Räumen, fragt APO33 nach den heutigen Umwandlungen in der
künstlerischen und kulturellen Praxis, die zur gegenwärtigen
Neuaneignung, zum Verbrauch von Kommunikation und den
Informationstechnologien insgesamt stimmig sind. Dieses Hinterfragen
hat APO33 an den Rand des kulturellen Felds gebracht, indem sie
mögliche Wege erforschten und künstlerische Produktionen mit anderen
sozialen Praxen verschmelzen ließen (politischer Aktivismus, soziale
Vermittlung oder Tätigkeit, Mensch, Klima, natürliche und angewandte
Wissenschaften, Urbanismus, Wirtschaft, Ökologie...).

APO33 , as an interdisciplinary laboratory drawing on the artistic
and technological fields, fosters various collective projects
associating research, experimentation and social intervention.
In the continuity of the dynamics that has been opened by the free
software movement, apo33 is structured as a modular space, initiating
collaborative projects and creative processes, as well as exploring new
artistic and creative modes of production and diffusion.
Through workshops, seminars, artistic creation, international meetings,
on-line contributions, publications and interventions in public spaces,
apo33 queries to-day?s transformations in artistic and cultural
practices consequent to the current re-appropriation and usage of
Communication and Information technologies. This questionment has
driven apo33 to work at the edge of the cultural field, by exploring
possible passages and crossings between artistic creation and other
social fields or practices (political activism, social mediation or
action, human, environmental, natural and applied sciences, urbanism,
economy, ecology...).
