Tracey Snelling

Vermittels Bildhauerei, Fotografie, Video und in Installationen erschafft Tracey Snelling ihre Eindrücke von Menschen und deren Erfahrungen. Häufig übernimmt das kinematografische Bild bei ihr eine Stellvertreterposition für das wirkliche Leben, das sich hinter den Gebäudefenstern abspielt. Gelegentlich stellt sich eine mysteriöse Stimmung ein, bei anderen Arbeiten entwickelt sich ein mondänes Flair. Snelling hat ihre vielfältigen Arbeiten in Museen in der ganzen Welt ausgestellt sowie Einzelausstellungen in China, Belgien, den Niederlanden, Deutschland und London gehabt. 2016 erhielt sie den renommierten Preis für Malerei und Skulptur der Joan-Mitchell-Stiftung in New York. Im ausland wird sie eine spezielle Auswahl ihrer kinematografischen Arbeiten zeigen.

Through the use of sculpture, photography, video, and installation, Tracey Snelling gives her impression of a place, its people and their experience. Often, the cinematic image stands in for real life as it plays out behind windows in the buildings, sometimes creating a sense of mystery, other times stressing the mundane. Snelling has shown her work in museums all over the world and has had solo exibitions in China, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and London.  In 2016 she received the  Painters and Sculptors Award from the Joan-Mitchell-Foundation. She will present a special choice of film- and video works at ausland.
